Creating tools to preserve, highlight and resurface memories for prosumers
Small slices of my work while I was at Adobe. I transitioned from IC responsible for a product revamp, to later on leading the design team of Designers across Consumer tools, Web and eLearning.
Context
Adobe has a consumer tools group, which caters to casual pros, creators who want to create and store memories, but want nuanced control and have sophisticated aesthetic ideas and mostly do not have technical skill, time or inclination to learn. I like to call them perpetual novices. Initially these tools began as less feature rich cousins of their more famous pro versions.
Rethinking Premiere Elements UX strategy
During formative research and discovery, a key insight, that would become the design Northstar for the Adobe Elements suite for years to come, (its success belied by the fact that it has seeped into the professional tools as well via guided edits) that the prosumer; is not really an 'Editor' but would rather be a 'Director'
Mixed methods, scale and stages of user research & testing
UX strategy entailed significant UX design changes, extensive mixed methods user research (qualitative, quantitative) was carried out to sound out concepts, team alignment, buy in and development checks, at various stages of fidelity.
Legacy challenges
UX strategy execution, production & commercialization
Mobile tools & experiences
My team and I were responsible for PsX, Adobes consumer mobile editing app from 2012 to 2015 we helped shape the App on Android, iOS & briefly Windows Mobile. Initially I was responsible as Design Lead, and later managing a team of 8 designers working on different platform instances.
