A web presence, as a homage to the real thing
The Sarai at Toria is an eco-jungle retreat in the Madhya Pradesh, India. Madhya - literally meaning middle, the Sarai is next to the famous Khajuraho temples.
My role was conceptualizing the art, its tone, the website IA, UX and interactions, cinema-graphs were the medium of choice to communicate the soothing, languid beauty of the Sarai.
A warm gentle breeze, with rustling leaves is one of the best ways to be welcomed anywhere
The Sarai needed a refresh to its web presence and my good friend Mickey who had helped them in crafting a new brand identity, reached out to me for designing a web experience for the Sarai. The visual design, photography and cinema-graphs are his work.
After a refreshing visit and meeting the couple who run it, it felt imperative that the web experience should capture and convey some of the atmosphere, calm and grace at the Sarai.
No better way to build an appetite for breakfast
The Sarai website is up! you can see it here https://www.saraiattoria.com
When you visit the Sarai, what captures you is the subtle grace in everything, care taken to small details. All points making the resort a fascinating experience in sustainable pampering and old world charm. The aim was to capture all those little graces, movements and spaces.
Joanna and Raghu, a couple advocating for sustainable tourism & environmental preservation run the Sarai with immense passion and love.
They have setup a resort that blends into the local environs culturally and materially. Completely self sustaining, the resort generates its own electricity, grows most of its food, embraces local building material, crafts and employs locally.
